Barbados has a huge choice of sports and recreational activities to enjoy, whether you want to participate or simply observe, you are guaranteed an action-packed holiday. Our wonderful island is only 21 by 14 miles in size, so when staying at one of our Barbados villa rentals you are just a short trip away from lots of sporty fun and relaxation.

For lovers of golf, Barbados has world class courses. On the West Coast you will find: The Royal Westmoreland Golf Club, a five-star establishment with ocean views from every green offering an exquisite setting for a relaxing round of golf.  Sandy Lane, a premiere luxury golf resort with three courses all with tropical scenery and sea views. Apes Hill, with fantastic sea views, is the Only Golf, Polo and Tennis community in Barbados.   Many golf tournaments are held throughout the year making Barbados one of the best Caribbean islands for a fantastic golfing holiday.

Fancy a flutter? Enjoy a day at the horse races at the historic Garrison Savannah, located in St. Michael. The racing season runs for almost the entire year and events run every other Saturday.  The Barbados Gold Cup is the main annual  event held on the first Saturday in March where the World’s leading thoroughbreds compete. This attraction draws in a huge amount of spectators from across the globe making it the Southern Caribbean’s most popular racing occasion. With food, drink, music, parades, sideline betting games and more, a day at the horse races is great entertainment for all.

How about watching a game of polo? Polo in Barbados dates back to as early as 1884, since then it’s become popular across the island . The Barbados Polo Club, Lion Castle, Apes Hill Polo Club and Clifton are all situated on the West Coast. Paradise Rentals specialises in West Coast Barbados villa rentals and our stunning properties are ideally located for you to enjoy an exclusive day out as a spectator of this prestigious sport.

Rather ride than watch? If you like an adventurous holiday activity then you really must try horse riding. Barbados has many riding centres where you can follow spectacular trails along stunning scenic views. Discover Barbados at your own pace, ride along the beach and experience the remote and tranquil beauty of our island on horseback.

The West Indies is synonymous with cricket, and Barbados is the home of the famous Oval.  Many high profile matches are played throughout the year and the atmosphere of a live match is truly fantastic; a must for cricket fans.

A Barbados holiday is a great place to improve your tennis, or learn to play.  Individual players, families or groups of friends can all take part.  Go home from your holiday with an improved back-hand, a better serve or a volley to be pround of and surprise everyone at your local tennis club.

There are so many sports and recreational activities in Barbados; but we really mustn’t forget the obvious – Watersports! With our amazing beaches and incredible sea and ocean, it’s a watersports fanatics dream. The West Coast has the Caribbean Sea, which has calm and crystal clear waters.  It’s just perfect for scuba diving, kayaking, snorkeling, sailing, jet skis, stand-up-paddleboarding and boat trips. If you need a reason to be tempted to water-ski (or learn to water-ski), the gorgeous warm waters of the caribbean sea should be it.  No wet suit required, just walk into the sea, climb aboard your waiting speed boat and off you go.  Experienced instructors will teach you all you need to know.  You can even learn to mono-ski (on one ski).  For the more daring adventurer, the rougher waters of the south and east coast are the ultimate fun-zone for surfers, kitesurfing, parasailing and paragliding.

If you would like to bring some peace and mindfulness to your Barbados holiday, why not try yoga.  There is a yoga studio on the west coast, with a comprehensive timetable of classes from beginner to advanced.

Our Barbados villa rentals are all West Coast based so if you’re in search of a sporting holiday, you really should come and stay with us. We can organise a programme of activities for you, recommend coaching or the best places to spectate.   We offer all types of villa, house and apartment accommodation, so a group sporting holiday can be easily arranged; perhaps a tennis holiday at Sugar Hill?.
